63 Psalm 66:10,18 Refiner's Fire
JMD Devotional 63 Psalm 66:10,18 Refiner's Fire
For You, O God, have proved us; You have tried us as silver is tried, refined, and purified... If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me...
God is both merciful and severe. A.W. Tozer said that God is easy to please but impossible to satisfy, meaning He rejoices in our feeble baby steps, but cares too much to let us remain forever moral 'infants'. So He sets a high standard for purity. The silver of our soul is heated white-hot seven times, and each time more dross is removed. In the end we will be exceedingly glad that God put us through all of this. The quality of our character will gleam.
Dear God,
The refiner's fire is hard to accept, for we know the process involves pain and suffering. But we commit ourselves to You, and will trust You to know when we have had enough.
Amen
