59 Deuteronomy 32:3,4,18 Song of Moses Part 2
JMD Devotional 59 Deuteronomy 32:3,4,18 Song of Moses Part 2
For I will proclaim the name [and presence] of the Lord. Concede and ascribe greatness to our God. He is the Rock, His work is perfect, for all His ways are law and justice. A God of faithfulness without breach or deviation, just and right is He.
The song follows with metaphors of God’s care and nurturing of His people:
>He kept him (Jacob/Israel) as the pupil of His eye…
>The Lord alone led him…
>He bore them on His (eagle) wings (to safety, the heights of goodness)…
>He fed him honey and oil from a rock (miracles)…
>He fed him with the best of the land, butter, curds, milk, lambs, rams, wine…
But how did His people respond to these blessings?
Vs 18 Of the Rock Who bore you you were unmindful; you forgot the God Who travailed in your birth.
Dear God,
We, your people, are ungrateful, ignorant and shortsighted; we lightly esteem your gifts. Your righteous indignation with your sons and daughters is well earned. Please have mercy and forgive us; grant repentance and renewal; help us to know our transgressions and how they hurt You.
Amen
