11 2 Chronicles 26 Half-Hearted Devotion

JMD Devotional 11 2 Chronicles 26 Half-hearted Devotion

Summary of King Uzziah of Judah’s reign.
Vs 4 He did right in the Lord’s sight, to the extent of all that his father Amaziah had done. (His father “did right in the Lord’s sight, but not with a perfect heart. 2 Chronicles 25) {So much for using your parents, peers or any other men for a standard.}
>He did OK when Zechariah the Prophet was in town, who instructed him. He prospered under that mentoring.
>King Uzziah was cleaver, he loved farming, was a great warrior, he enlisted skillful men to invent catapults to shoot arrows and great stones.
Vs 15b And his fame spread far, for he was marvelously helped till he was strong.
Vs 16 But when [King Uzziah] was strong, he became proud to his destruction; and he trespassed against the Lord his God, for he went into the Temple of the Lord to burn incense on the Altar of Incense. (A duty for consecrated priests alone.)
>The priests tried to stop him and point out his sin, which enraged the King. God struck him with instant leprosy.
>He was cast out and isolated till his death.

Dear Lord,
May I never forget that I have been marvelously helped. May pride not ruin me nor separate us. Help me to be consistent with and without mentors and accountability. Incline me to seek you with a perfect heart. Amen.
