4 Humble Bearing Galatians 6:2, 5

JMD Devotional 4 Humble Bearing Galatians 6:2, 5

Bear (endure, carry) one another's burdens and troublesome moral faults, and in this way fulfill and observe perfectly the law of Christ (the Messiah) and complete what is lacking [in your obedience to it]. For every person will have to bear (be equal to understanding and calmly receive) his own [little] load [of oppressive faults].

I hate to admit that my natural reaction is to despise weaknesses in others that I’m trying to hide in myself. The distribution of imperfections should keep us humble and non-judgmental, but our perception is very subjective.

Dear God,

Why do I go on thinking my outer pretensions fool you and others (even myself)? Of what do I have to be so proud? I confess the ruse to protect my ego. It bends my mind and stretches my faith that you saw exactly the kind of person I am and yet you loved me and pursued me to bring me to yourself. My foolishness and utter depravity did not deter you. You are awesomely good to feeble flesh! You have put goodness and holiness within my frame by making your home in my heart. All I can say is THANK YOU! Help me to be patient and gentle with other struggling souls. Amen
